What is the Erbium YAG Laser?
The erbium YAG laser is our choice of laser for skin resurfacing. Laser skin resurfacing involves an intentional controlled skin injury with two goals: restoration of epithelium over the scarred area (whether that be an actual scar, burn, or wrinkle) and collagen remodeling. The erbium: YAG laser, with its 2940 nm wavelength at the peak of water absorption, leads to less thermal damage in laser-treated skin.
Who can be treated?
The erbium is one of our favorite solutions for anti-aging and skin remodeling because it can work on any skin tone, texture, or color!
What to expect during an erbium treatment:
We will call in a numbing cream for you before your treatment. You will need to apply this cream one hour before treatment. During the procedure, you should still expect to feel some discomfort. The treatment should take approximately 30 minutes, depending on how many areas you are having treated.
How many sessions will I need?
For best results, patients typically require 2 treatments.
What to expect after an Erbium treatment:
You should anticipate needing some downtime after this treatment. By this, we mean no makeup, gentle cleansers and skincare, and limited exposure to the sun. Most patients are completely recovered 5-7 days after this treatment.
